Hey all,
I have read the BMC service manual and you can remove cable slackness "by means of adjusting the sleeve nut at the front end of the longitudinal cable" . Can anyone explain that
in terms I can understand as not sure what the sleeve nut might be or where it is for that fact ! Know I have to lock down
the rear brakes and just start to apply the actual handbrake
control but figured someone out there has had to do this too.
Thanks,
Mike

The sleeve nut is on the front end of the hand brake cable (under the car) and it lengthens or shortens the sleeve of the cable so that pulling up on the hand brake lever gives more or less braking action. Use an open-end crescent wrench of the appropriate size and do not overtighten the nut or your rear brakes will be on all the time which is not a good thing! While you are down there you might want to put a grease gun to the nipple on the cable.
