Adjustable shocks.

At the meet at the Lake, Peter Caldwell had a pair of adjustable lever armed shocks in the silent auction. I thought they looked really neat. The old question, do you need something like that, I'm kinda thinking I do. Do I really, probably not, but. Has anybody used them or had a friend who has.
 
Email David Leib (the guy that was running the autocross) he has them on his car which is a street car/autocross toy.
 
I would say, if you do a fair amount of Autocross/ralley or gymkhana type stuff, you could use them. If you don't, you would probable never get under there to change adjustments just for daily driving and touring!! I mean, it's not like you are going to be out driving, come across a nice twisty bit and crawl under to adjust your shocks for it!!!!
 
I agree. We developed them for people who do change their modus operandi from week to weekend, or those who are fiddling with different spring/engine set-ups, or racers who run radically different venues or tire combinations. I don't think the casual or even spirited driver would realize the full benefits.

Many "modern" cars have soft-to-firm ride settings that almost never get used beyond the first month of ownership.

That's because they find the setting the like and then stick with it.. that would be the only advantage on the street. To find an "ideal" setting.. Or they could just tell you what use the car is put to and let you set it up. :smile:
