Adding picture to signature

Hope I'm not posting this question in the wrong forum, but how do I add a picture that does NOT have a URL address? I have it saved in my computer.

My understanding is that you require a website address (url) to post a picture in your signature, or to post any picture anywhere on here (even in a post). Most, if not all, photo hosting websites out there don't allow photo links into forums like this... are there any websites that do allow external links? I'd love to find one!

Next best thing... set up your own website.

Michael - actually, all you need is a good URL for your photo - not necessarily your own web site but one that allows their photos to be copied....contact chuck cougill at chuck@shadetreemg.com.....he sometimes allows folks to post their pghotos on his site....if you had an MG & were a member of my virtual car club, "theMGList", you could post a photo on my site & use it for your signature

Just wondering, could the photo be posted in the member's rides section here, and then referenced somehow?

hmmm ... let's give it a try ... nope, doesn't seem to work.

Michael, email me the image and I will put it on my website for you for the measly cost of one Eskimo pie!

Cheers,
John

Mike,

Go to my profile
» View/Update Profile «
Your Picture:
Enter a link to a picture of yourself. This must be a complete URL.

https://www.chesapeake.net/~oritt/Images/Healy1s.jpg

If you need to put a different photo up there just put it on your server in you Images directory. If you are out of space, send it to me and I'll be happy to host it on one of my servers.

Tracy

So many kind offers. Tracy, thanks for your suggestion but I would not want to deface the signature picture by using a shot that includes me! I'll take John Loftus up on his kind gesture, and yes John, just as at D.C. I'll have your Eskimo Pi at San Antonio Car Show--you are coming to Conclave this year aren't you???? (I'll send it to you via a separate email.)

No Dave--

Eskimo Pi's have been classified as possible Weapons of Mass Destruction and as such cannot be attached to emails.

Now, let's see if the photo is up....

Michael,
The photo is working in your profile but to get it working on your signature you need to go back into update profile and look for the "signature" area (near the bottom) to paste the info into. I also added before and after the web address i.e. [img]https://www.loftusdesign.net/100atBowie_sig.jpg[img]

Cheers,
John

Michael,

Glad to see you finally got the signature working.

Why don't you fill us in on the Healey trip you are planning this summer? Any chance that you will be giving us an occasional update on your progress?

Cheers,
John

John--

The route is still in flux but basically it is depart from Maryland on June 7, on up to the Michigan Upper Peninsula and across to Bismark, ND via US Highway 2, from where my co-driver has to fly back to work and my wife may or may not meet me. From there it is probably a bit further west to US 85 and down thru the Blackhills, eastern Wyoming and Colorado (I want to go up Pike's Peak again) then, if time permits, further south toward Albuquerque and in any case eventually turn toward San Antonio to make Conclave on June 20.

I would like to post observations and experiences to this list and folks could read them or not as they wish. My verbosity varies inversely to the number of folks in the car, so if I'll be travelling alone I'll probably observe more.

Michael,

Sounds like a great route. I remember your observations and experiences on the cross country trip from Maryland to Lake Tahoe and back in 2002 and besides being a good read, it was interesting to pull out the map and follow along. It's on my list to do some long trips in the Healey but for now I'll just be content to live it vicariously.

Cheers,
John

John--

Get ahold of a book called ROAD TRIP USA by Jamie Jensen, usually carried in the big bookstores in the travel section. It focuses on two-lane highways, some transcontinental, some from Canada to Mexico, with much information about interesting and offbeat sites along the way. I originally started to focus on US 83 which runs from Westhope, ND to Laredo TX but have shifted a bit west to get some more altitude.
