AccuSpark Electronic Ignition Kit

Hi,

Does anyone have experience installing an AccuSpark electronic ignition conversion kit in their POSITIVE GROUND Healey? I'm perplexed about the wiring.

Could someone send me a pic of their wiring and/or explain where the black, white, and existing wiring from the distributor go? Directions say black to "-" on the coil, ground from "+" on coil to ground, and white to ignition switch.

That white wire from the kit/distributor has me confused. Where exactly does it connect?

Thanks,
Steve

I suggest you contact AccuSpark directly. The wiring schematic they show on the website (https://www.ccee.nl/accuspark/accusparkwire.htm) is for negative earth applications, but the application pages in the website show Austin Healey and note they are positive earth so, since they make & sell a positive earth system, they MUST have a schematic they can share with you. I agree with your caution, one wrong connection can mean smoke.

Hi, I've already contacted them. I have a schematic for the positive earth but it just says 'connect to ignition switch'. They wouldn't provide any pics. I'm not sure which wire to use.

Use the wire that is hot when the switch is turned on - should be white. If you have BJ8, the switch has 3 color wires attached - Brown (power in, live all the time), White (power out to coil, power to fuse block for accessories, power out to ignition warning light) and White/Red (power out to starter solenoid) If you have an earlier car the White/Red will be connected to the starter push-button instead of the ignition switch.

You should have an existing white wire from the switch to the coil area - check to make sure it's hot when the switch is on and you are good to go.
