Accelerator Pedal

On my 68 GT6 I discovered that the stop bolt / nut on the accelerator pedal has broken off.

Is this a big issue? Does anybody have the bolt / nut still on their vehicle? I note that the LHD and RHD cars both have the stop bolt, but mounted in different locations.

Only reason I discovered it was that the engine has high revs (2000 - 3000) after driving the car and by lifting up on the pedal, the revs return to a more normal range. Upon investigating the pedal I noticed that the tab where the stop bolt goes in to is broke off. Also noticed that the rubber bushings where the accelerator linkages go through the firewall are shot.

Thanks
