What is the smallest AC unit out there? What car is it in? I would assume it should come off of a 4 cyl or less engine with very little drag and 134 compatible. PJ
 
Look for a "beefroll" AKA "Swash-plate" compressor, a lot less 'greedy' on power required. P'raps the unit from a Civic?

Outlawed! LOL, Can't imagine someone from FLA. saying that. LOL again! I remember when I was a kid, only the rich had air conditioning, in the car and home. I always assumed that if a car had it's windows rolled up in the summer, they were rich people. If they were in fact just putting on airs, they must have been awful hot in that car. First time I experienced AC was when I went to the movies. Of course that cost me 25 cents, and that was hard to come by in those days. I just can't get used to what these kids want and GET today. Oh well, I'm drifting off, sorry. I check out the Civic unit. It means scouring the junk yards, and the problem with that is I usually come back with more than I went for. Thanks for the info. Doc.
 
Go to the experts Arizona AC. They deal with kits, components, etc. If I remember right the Suzuki has a smaller compressor than the Honda. Also Honda Nippondenso have a reliability problem.

Do a google for Arizona AC Kits.
 
I'll sell you the compressor off my 911 - It's small and under-powered :smile:

...the other hateful device I'd make ~illegal~ is the automatic transmission. The inept would eliminate themselves rapidly, the rest of us would have safer highways. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif
 
Ckeck the salvage yards for a Geo Metro...
 
Pick up an issue of any street rod magazine. There are a lot of companies that make kits for putting climate control in streetrods. Most of these cars had no heater in the first place, so space is at a premium. I have always thought that one of these units would be perfect for LBCs.
