I've missed almost every car show/event that I'd planned on attending
this year.It was due to cancellation due to rain,being unable to drive
because of hand surgery,or just cancelled.
I planned this last week for my vacation so I could attend the SCCA-
Runoffs & do a few drives,but that didn't work out too well,either.
 
Missing events is a common frustration of illness!

How's your family doing?
 
On the flip side be thankful for all the events you can attend in the future as your health improves. Hang in there; better days ahead.
 
SVRA Vintage race along with the Trans Am Series this weekend at VIR if you missed the Runoffs. Haggerty also doing a car show on Saturday , had a ton of cars last year . Will be there on my '71 TR6 .

I'd love to go,but can't be gone all day due to IV injections.
Plus the Wife & Granddaughter will be gone on Saturday for
a memorial service for our Daughter's Aunt.
 
What you missed at the Runoffs was 8 out the scheduled 9 races on Friday, most of which were run in the rain and wind.

Saturday we had beautiful weather with 10 races ( One having been moved from late Friday to first thing Saturday).

Sunday saw the remaining 8 races with on and off again must, drizzle and rain, heavy at times.

It will be back again at VIR next year and the weather can only be better.

And one more thing, spectators were treated like second class citizens this year with no vehicular access allowed over the bridge to the infield without crew or worker credentials. Unless you went to Oak Tree, all spectators were required to park in the grass lot outside of the bridge and be shuttled into the infield. Supposedly and according to any VIR employee that I spoke to, this was mandated by the SCCA.

I’m hoping for better treatment in 2023, but I’m not banking on it.

Agreed , I was lucky enough to have a friend running and was listed as crew but SCCA mandated no vehicular access across the bridge without credentials and were very tight in checking . Not sure how you are supposed to get youth involved in what is becoming an old mans sport if you are not willing to easily showcase your product to newcomers. Wasn't like there wasn't room for parking across the bridge for folks other than participants . Nobody asked me and I'm sure they didn't care but there were many " questionable " decisions made in my opinion in the running of the races , some involving safety issues with cars and support vehicles out on a "hot" track , generally no consistency in the decisions made. That being said , besides the weather for the races , absolutely worth the effort and will be back next year .

A Note: I know nothing about the spectator parking situation, but I'm sure someone will bring it up to the race division. There are quarterly Zoom meetings for all the Region Executives where these types of issues are discussed. I do know about the move to remove some disabled cars from a hot track. The number of full course yellow laps at VIR the last time the runoffs were there was CRAZY. so, SCCA went "old school" from the 60's and 70's and is using local yelows and whites to cover picking up disabled cars. It's called the "green 2 checker" program. It worked well at most of the major events this year.
