Hi.
Looking for info and a solution to a water pump leak.?
Pump was trashed so had it sleeved to take new bearings and fitted a new kit.
Problem now is it has a leak that defies logic. Thinking it is leaking past carbon seal but the pump surface for that was machined when sleeve was fitted.
Any suggestions or solutions greatly appreciated.

The weep hole is there to allow lubricant *that's bypassing the seal(s)* to come out, instead of entering the coolant itself.

Weep hole drip usually indicates bad/failing water pump seal(s).

New seal kit consisted of spring, carbon seal and carrier, rubber seal behind carbon seal and felt seal up behind bearings.
Wondering if there is any trick to bedding in carbon seal.?

Wish I could advise on the bedding question - I've never tried that.

If it were mine, and the drip were small and infrequent, I'd probably drive it 100 miles or so, then check to see if it's worse, or if it's closing up by itself.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Just a thought - check out this water pump discussion. Note the part about "spinning up the pump while dry", to seat the seal.
