A-Series head swap

Have you guys seen this idea of swapping the head from a BMW 1100 bike engine onto a 1275 A-Series engine?

My 1275 is only for vintage racing so this has no use for me, but if I wanted to build a keen street 1275 and retain partly original stuff, this might be a good swap.

This one went in a Mini, but obviouly this would work in a Spridget too.

Most of the threads I've seen about this conversion show it requires a great deal of machine work. It looks really cool, but in the end, I wonder if it would be better to just fit an alloy A series head and roller rockers. At least that's reversible if need be.

The advantage to this swap is the better flow afforded by the 16V head. Something you will not achieve with a 5 port A series head. The results I have seen have been impressive, but not a conversion for the faint of heart, and the reliability may be questionable as well.

But still... you have to admire the guts and ingenuity it takes to undertake such a radical project.

The guy credited for this ingenuity is Greg Temkin; his website is www.lojomo.com.
Very cool bit of work, the head he used was a K100 back in the 80’s. Only down side I can see is not fitting under an "un-modified" spridget bonnet. A brilliant bit of engineering and follow thru. Took him about five years to sort it all out. Now I think others use K1100LT heads.
