A really good laundry pen!

I recently bought a Tilley Hat (made in Canada) for hiking, etc., to keep Mr Sun off my head and ears. It has a label in it for writing your name and phone #. Since the hat is washable I thought I should get a laundry marker so the info doesn't run when washed.

Searched Amazon for laundry pens and ran across this ad! For $618.11 it must be the best laundry pen in the world!

Ink made from endangered animals from Madagascar? But, hey, it's a 2 pack... more expensive than those epi-pens!

My wife just paid $800. Bucks for a vacuum cleaner.....so i guess $600 for a pen is not out of the park.

I've had one for about twenty years - its just about worn in now - great hats. Its got that lived in feel and I wouldn't be without it on holiday. Keeps the sun out of my eyes and the rain off my glasses.

$618 for a laundry pen? Sounds like money laundering to me.

(Seriously - that's an efficient way to do it ...)

Great hats! My dad wore one for years. I would wear one but don`t really wear hats. That said, my friend Steve changed the whole company`s return policy. They have a life warranty. He (about 20 years ago) was in Pakistan with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. A ventilation grommet fell out so he sent the hat back to be repaired. They sent him a new hat. He hit the roof - he didn`t want a new hat - he wanted HIS hat which had been with him to these various countries. His had been thrown away by then but, they got the message - people want `their hat`with their story!

The main reason I bought one is because here in the South West there is a relatively high incidence of skin cancer. Where I worked (until recently), there is a skin cancer center on the floor above. I would constantly see people my age coming and going from that place having had major parts of their face, ears, nose, etc., lopped off. Since I like to hike a lot with my camera, I thought it prudent to take some precautions so I looked for a good hat. After some research, I ended up with a Tilley. They are pricy but have a lifetime guarantee and 99% of the reviews online were excellent. The model I bought has a full mesh crown for maximum ventilation while still providing very good sun protection. I had to laugh at part of their guarantee, which reads in part:

"If there is a problem caused by poor workmanship or faulty material, please send your freshly washed garment to us and we'll repair or replace the garment free - whatever's fair. Exclusions: normal wear and tear and damage caused by misuse or improper care. Underwear will not be accepted for return or repair."

(They sell more than just hats). So I guess if you rip your nickers, you're out of luck. :wink-new: This is the model I got:

A Tilley would be total overkill for me, but I wear a boonie hat for the same reason. I used to have two... camo jungle ones, got 'em from my uncle (Sam). One was lost skiing on a local lake years ago. Now down to the last one. Well "broken in" by now, too.

Well as long as your doing something to keep Mr Sun off your noggin!

I wear an old fashioned Resistol 10x Panama in the summers here, and a nice beaver 'Jack and Jean' (house brand but most likely built by the American Hat Co.) in the winters. I also have a pretty nice 10x Stetson Stratoliner and a couple other pretty good hats that I sometimes wear. The first two are just my everyday hats.

Good call with the skin cancer coverage - when I was in Florida, literally every Sunday someone else came to church with band aids on head or face.

BTW - is that a self portrait?
