A question of paint

A new member, Gary West, asked me about paint:

he said:

"I note you have a silver blue E type. I am currently getting ready to have my 61 roadster painted after an arduous restoration.

We had the interior and engine bay painted as closely as we could match with the silver blue. We had no cross references for
modern paints to go with. This was several years ago ( I mean long as well as arduous)
Would you have any suggestions regarding this for some of the more common paint brands now available?"

Garry,
I had my Silver Blue E painted a Ford color (sorry I don't recall the code), but it matched almost perfectly for the original paint (much of which was still visible on various bits and pieces). I was very happy with the result. However, Dan Mooney, at Classic Jaguar, tells me they use a Peugeot color that is a near-perfect match (if Dan tells me this, I believe him). You might give him a shout.
