I just got a lumix dmc fz8.
Any opinions on it would be appreciated

I seem to recall several people liking it and considering it a bridge between a decent SLR with interchangeable lenses and a pocket point & shoot camera. My only concern is the price - for about the same price you can get a Nikon SLR with a decent lens, and a whole host of lenses to add onto your collection later. On the plus side, the FZ8's lens is supposed to be really good.

PS: You can read through the reviews on Amazon and try to read between the lines. Somewhere between the all-positive and all-negative usually lies the truth

Spoilsport!!!

...I've looked at Leica digital offerings too... WOW.

That comment was just based on the base-price though Doc. The D40 and the FZ8 are the same price from Amazon and the D60 is just a little more - the Nikons come with a basic "kit" lens that probably isn't the best I'm sure, but it's not like the FZ8 is several hundred less either.

Even so - I'm sure the FZ8 is probably pretty good

Ya gotta grin at what's available, regardless.

It's like Christmas!!!!

I picked it up at a hock shop for $200

WOOHOO!!!

In that case then, I'd say you got an incredible deal! As long as the camera is in good shape still, I pity the poor person who ever gets my old Lumix FZ4, did I add that it had 21K photos taken with it... Which is a lot for a P&S camera

As for that Nikon D40 or D60... Make that a D90 or D300 for me, now if only I had the money...

The only stumblin' block, James. Th' money.

Oh yeah... Plus all the new lenses I would need to compliment the better quality camera body... $$$

And enjoy that new camera Willie

thanks guys not a scratch on it and also came with a case and a 1 gig card. Now comes the hard part, learning how to use it. I did download the manual for it. It's just a little different from the finepix A101 I was using LOL
