A parts car

I just found out today that one of my co-workers has a 78 midget parts car he is gonna get rid of. I got to go look at is and see if it is worth taking for myself. Said the motor and tran are with it but out of it. Hmmmn.

Hope it checks out. Nice to have extra parts around, so nice that so much of these cars, from Bugeye to rubber bumper, have interchangeable bits.

Good deal. I love when stuff like this just "appears".

Keep in mind that the engine, trans and drive shaft are different from your car (since '78 is a 1500 car).
The rear, fenders, windshield and overall body work will interchange (but holes in fenders for parking lights differ).

Steering rack differs, but you can swap the entire unit.

But still, if the body is decent, it's a good deal since so many parts will still fit (the '78 car in the picture below has '63 fenders).

I seriously looked into it for my BGT, the cost of the DC motor alone would take about 15,000 miles to recoup. Then there was the 18 12v batteries to buy and their weight.
Good luck with them, it'd be great for a few to work out.

I'm counting on y'all smart folks to figure out the conversions. I figure a Spridget of some sort is a good base -- light weight is always a good thing in these cases.
