this is my first Jaguar.so i am learning as i go. i see references to a facelift model. what does that mean? i have an 86 XJS.
also, is an XJS the same as a XJ-S?

The term "facelift model" refers to the minor re-design that the car underwent for the 1992 model year.

The car was originally labelled XJS when it was launched, but the badging was changed to include the hyphen somewhere along the line. I'm at work right now, so I don't have access to my reference books, but as stated above, it is the same car.

thanks Steve, that clears up the 'facelift' name. btw, what are you using for reference material?

Robin, I have books on Jaguar like you wouldn't believe! And I don't even own one any more /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I have everything from the two-volume set on the Sprorts/Racing cars, to the Brooklands publications on the XJ series saloons.
