I am the new owner of a 1960 Triumph TR3A. After puchasing the car last year I undertook a cross-country trip from Sarasota FLA to Seattle WA in a car that I had very little history of. Yes I made sure the car was road ready by having a thorough pre-trip maintenance operformed...everything from basic engine condition, fuel system, cooling system, chassis, suspension, etc. Long story short...I made it. Yes there were a few incidents but nothing catastrophic. I blogged the trip on Blogger.com. The title of the blog is :

"The Triumph TR3A Cross Country Odyssey".

Now that I am safely at home I have become active in the TYEE Triumph sports car club in Washington state and am familiarizing myself with the car. It is truly an adventure...and a learning experience. I look forward to interacting with you all on this site. Happy Motoring "ICEWORM"

Welcome! Sounds like you had a great road trip!
Post some pics of your TR3A, love those cars.

Hi There ICEWORM,

"Welcome" to the BCF.

Man, I must admit; I don`t think I would have the gutts to take a trip such as you did in a TR3. "CONGRATS"!!

I have to guess by now; You`ve introduced Yourself and Your TR to the "Triumph Forum". As mentioned; We all "LOVE" pics.

See Y`All Later,

Russ

Welcome!! :savewave:

Welcome there Iceworm....
I would need A/C and great hotels to make that trip... :driving:

Had a great cross-country odyssey. My co driver and I had pretty much determined that we would stay off Interstates and zigzag through the country on country roads. We saw Norman Rockwell's America. We stopped and chatted with miners in Kentucky, farmers in IOWA, Kansas and Nebraska. Ranchers in the Dakotas,Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and Nevada. Simply put...a wonderful experience. And no matter where we stopped there were always people congregating around the car taking pictures and having their pictures taken. Aside from 4 flat tires ( due to the schrader valve housings separating from the tubes). It goes without saying that driving in constant temps of 104 to 120 degrees F was a challenge. At any rate now that the car is home I am geting familiar with it. Just replaced Rear Main Seal using 1 and 1/2 felt kits and jamming it in as best as possible. Next project is to remove the early style oil filter housing...leaks like a sieve. I am told by my friends in the TYEE car club that my car does not leak that it is just " Marking it's territory.

More to come...

Thanks for the welcome Russ!
