Was at a Black History Month event last night and one of the performers (apparently from New York) did his piece... And it was excellent stuff, a man who hasn't lost his performance touch over many years, and still has great rythm... Talking to him after the show I was rather surprised when he told me that he now lives here in Calgary, which seems like a surprising choice for someone of his stature, because we're not exactly a huge draw for performing artists... Talking to my poet friend Sheri-D Wilson this morning (who has met him since he's moved here), she informed me that he married a local writer which explains it all...
I don't know how many of you have heard of <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Malcolm Mooney</span></span>, maybe not everybody out there but his bio is certainly rather impressive, and I look forward to hopefully catching more of his performances, possibly as early as next Thursday if Sheri-D has her way
