a new arrival in the hood!

Yesterday I got a knock on the door to find a neighbor standing outside looking over my BE. He told me he just picked one up and was having it trailed home as we spoke!
Well I had to go over and check it out /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif ! Now I'm green with envy /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cryin.gif . Why can't I find these "barn finds"? (actually this sat in a back yard for 20 years he said). The floors are rock-solid and the body is just about as straight as when new!! Had to video it and show you guys. He is in the process of moving to Tenn. where he will be restoring it. I gave him a BCF card and told him there were a few members from up there! Check it out...

Wow the top is prob worth the $900.

Cool barn find! Kinda reminds me of mine, but my bonnet is in better shape. Mine sat in a barn about two miles from my house for the past ten years. They are out there!

Cool videos!

Don't know where in Tenn., Ray, but will let you know when next I chat with him!

Nice, I keep scanning Craigslist here but I've only seen one I would buy for less than $1000 and things just were not quite perfect enough in other areas (real life) so I passed.
I keep looking though.

Wow, what a good find! Good for him!

The only such discovery that I was ever able to make would have cost considerably more to buy than I could afford, and substantially more to restore! I had to pass that pleasure on to a friend.

$900??? I can't repeat what I said when I heard that...

Well, I just got another visit from the new owner. He found this bby listed in the local paper! I talked to him for a while, and when he gets it up to Tenn. will start the resto. He checked out BCF and I think we will have a new member soon too! I am sure he will benefit from it /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif !/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Well guys, by way of introduction and just so you can put name and car together, Sir Richard (new member) is the proud owner of this new addition to our ranks! Welcome to BCF Richard!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Well, guess what wound up in my back yard after sitting in a driveway down the street for four months!! It's not mine (YET!!)but I'm working on it! The above-mentioned owner decided that it was a bit much for him to tackle and would like to sell it!

Hopefully I will restore her! She is a good candidate for a proper resto with what looks to be all original stuff with the exception of the generator which was replaced with one that lacks the tach drive! There are a couple of scary rust spots, but nothing too overwhelming, I think! She did sit under a tarp for upwards of 15 years! Definitly not one to throw away!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

I will be delving into her and getting better aquainted over the weekend! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Just looked at the vid.

I'm happy to say that this one looks like it can be saved.
Best of luck with it! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Agree, think that is a keeper.

My current BE has been too butchered over the years to worry about originality, but methinks this one may have possibilities!

It'd be real nice to have a 1275 "hot rod" and a 948 original in the stable! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

PS It still has the original "owners handbook" with it too (sans cover unfortunately, but still intact!) I think I might scan all the pages to preserve it for posterity!

Woohoo!

More Bugeyes = more fun. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Ben, your "Please" have been duly noted!! As I said, I will be checking the old girl out closer this weekend. I have been led to believe that it is a factory hard-top on a very originally equipped car, and if so, should really remain with the car it came on!! I will be posting my findings (and perhaps any relevant pictures!) as I make progress. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

I am sure I will have plenty of questions to ask you all as I get into this project! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yesnod.gif
