A need for mud flaps

In some past forum postings, pics of TR6s with mud flaps often draw disparaging remarks about how hokey these things look. Whilst prepping my car for our recent car show, after a thorough washing and waxing, I was down on my back detailing the underside of my rear quarter panels and much to my horror I found that the paint on the very bottom of these panels, right beneath the bumper extensions, was shredded by rocks and road debris. Large chunks of paint had been chipped off from my tires catching and throwing trash up. As an emergency fix (the show was the next day) I masked off the area and sprayed textured black rock-guard paint over the areas on both side, barely visible from on top and similar to the paint on the bottom of the rockers. Body colored respray was not an option. Mud flaps would have prevented this. I suppose if my car was a trailer queen, this would never have happened. It ain't. So to you brave souls out there with VB mud flaps, you are smarter than me.
 
I've also seen the application of the 'Clear Bra' material in these areas to resist the carnage. It seems that the wedges can benefit from the mudflaps more than earlier TR's. I notice a huge difference in that area between my TR6 and my TR8 anyway. Thinking about adding the flaps to the wedge.
