A Memoir

Yup, nice article, not often there is an article about an MG 1100... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif Long live Brit saloon cars...

I know that feeling...my husband doesn't get it, my sons don't understand it...but I do......Thank you for giving it words /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yesnod.gif

Nice story.

While you're at it, try ~THIS BOOMER CAR TEST~. I scored 73%

One of my pals from high school bought an MG 1100 new in '66. We drove it all around the Jersey Shore.
One day, he ran it off the road and onto someone's front lawn doing some "spirting driving"....ran right over a concrete lawn ornament and wrecked the entire drivetrain.
His father would have killed him, but he'd just gotten drafted anyway.

When he got back from his "tour" (mostly in Alaska), he bought a 2002 and later, a new-fangled Toyota Celica.

He gave me the BMC workshop manual for that 1100 and I still have it.

hehehehe.....my daughter & her high school friends called ours the "Beaver Cleaver Car":

I was in an MGB and "ploughed" a yard...

It'll require a "face-to-face" if more details are required. Hey! I was YOUNG then!!!

90% - # of meals eaten in cars? year cup holders installed?

I got a 77 percent.
The Avanti pictured was actually an Avanti II,
not built by Studebaker.

awww fooey! I only scored 53%

73....But I hate American cars.

And I only made boomer by 34 days.

83% by a person older than boomers. #meals got me too but there were several good guesses.

Nice choice for a 2nd car but then again I'm biased

GAH! Can't believe I missed the "longest car" one! My uncle had a '60. Me Ol' Fella had a '50, '53, '55, '57, then skipped to a '61. Had 'em beyond that too.

I didn't do well... 77%

I must be a "Late Boomer". /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

83% here... But I was always the over-achiever, even though Mom liked you best. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

That cup holder one was just ~dumb~. The microbus one was another I missed. And meals in cars. sheesh.

I mean, are we counting ONLY Happy Meals, or does a plain cheeseburger and a small fries count, too? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif
