I went to my friends body shop to change a broken tailgate cable on my S10. He removed the other cable and the tailgate, with no tools, in less than 10 seconds! They just lift right off. Apparently this is big problem with Jeep Wrangler doors, too. Big black market on Ebay for them. Hadn't noticed a market for S10 tailgates.

Almost all pickup tailgates are the same way. It's a utility feature. 'bout the only thing you could do would be to lock the gate closed. Some have a lock in the handle, others you have to create something.
The anti-theft device for my gate is that its beat to crap and rusty. God help the idiot that'd steal it.

Free help from "the big guy" ?!?!?!?

I think I still have your address around here somewhere. :cowboy: :jester:

The tailgates on both my pick-ups are hard mounted to their hinges. No tail gate thefts for me unless they bring some wrenches.
