Minnesota TR3 update --

Got the driver's door finished and put current tabs on it, so I took it a little further this evening. Out on the highway.

I think I must still have a bubble in the brakes. They are adjusted up seven ways from Sunday, but I don't have the high pedal I think I ought to have. Oh well... It's only brake fluid. I'll pump some more through there and see what I find.

Getting the solenoid on the OD adjusted just right is tweakier than I thought it woulds be. First run: upshifted great but was very sluggish coming out of OD. It dropped out of the OD but seemed to freewheel and not lock up. Back home for an adjustment. Second run: Aborted quickly. Now it wouldn't shift up into OD at all. Back home for an adjustment. (I'm running without the transmission tunnel in place -- nice and toasty-warm in the cockpit!) Third run: I'm very close... It would be sweet if it upshifted just a <span style="font-style: italic">little</span> quicker, but it downshifts just right. A little bit seems to go a looong way with this adjustment...

The local constabulary were so sweet. They put up the radar display "You are going THIS fast" just a couple of blocks from home. I'm indicating a little fast. I'll take it to the measured mile sometime soon and calibrate it to 60.

Good deal, I really need an OD type A unit for my smallmouth...seems like everything else comes up first for the money ..I'll get there though.
My brake pedal is pretty firm and requires a deliberate stab to realy bite, good feel though. What kind of fluid are you using and is the cylinder srtoke properly set?

Save that money! It's TOTALLY worth the expense. I can tell that after only 30 minutes of trying it out.

This is my third TR3, and not my first time through a TR3 brake job. I know how to set the pedal up with the MC. I also know what the pedal can/should feel like. What I haven't copped to yet is that while filling/bleeding the system I did make a little goof: After I finally got fluid at the left rear wheel, (I am employing the old "girlfriend pumps the pedal" method of bleeding) I walked to the front of the car and there was a spreading puddle of DOT 4 brake fluid on the floor, under the left front wheel. The bleeder valve had been open the whole time. So I closed it, wiped up the mess and continued around the car -- right rear, right front, left front. I don't understand the physics of how this might have left a bubble in the system, but everything else is right -- so that has to be it. Becky will have to pump the pedal a little more for me.
