Just heard from my older son that he was picked up for Lieutenant Colonel (AF Reserves). (I retired as Major so he now outranks me :encouragement:)

It’s one of life’s pleasures to see our kids succeed. Congrats.

Worked hard at finally outranking Dad, which makes him boss, right?

Congrats to him!

Now, you have to salute first.

I plan to do that the first time I see him (when he gets back from his current assignment).

Give him one from this former enlisted swine, too.

In the Prussian army it was custom that a son would not outrank a father. He could have duties and assignments befitting a higher rank but officially would not hold the rank if it exceeded a military father. Richthofen for example was a captain although his position leading the circus would usually been a LT Colonel.

Congratulations to your son Bas.

Thanks all...he worked hard for it and we're super proud of him.
