A good [vintage] day...

Didn't buy an old car yet (that'll be quite awhile yet).

However...

After church stopped by the local flea market, as I often do. A friend of mine who is antique vendor had an interesting vintage photo on his table, as a vintage photo collector it piqued my interest. He said it was an 1880's photo of Rome by a well known early photographer, a little pricey at $45 (given my budget for the month) but had a great vintage frame with it. Just couldn't resist so... It's this photo by a fellow named Giacomo Brogi - https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/...1_-_Roma_-_Chiesa_della_TrinitĂ _de'_Monti.jpg - so probably taken in the 1870's, likely worth the money I paid for it, if not more...

A little later in the afternoon stopped by an antique shop I've spent lots of time in, before I even went in the door spotted a great old jacket, a very heavy wool overcoat from the 1950's in excellent condition with a T. Eaton Company label on it - https://thecanadianencyclopedia.com/en/article/t-eaton-company-limited/ - a very well known historic Canadian department store. The jacket was a perfect fit, nice and long, almost down to my ankles, very heavy wool, a perfect way to dress up a little for some of our cold winter days, it will only get occasional use but I just had to get it, purchased it for $35!

Rather happy with myself, although days like this no wonder I don't have any money to buy an old car, amongst many other reasons...

Sherlock, I really enjoy your photos, But, do you guys ever get ANY warm weather up there??? :encouragement: PJ

The church is in the photo, but I'm thinking that the subject of the photo was actually the steps leading up to and around it. They're known as the Scalinata della Trinita dei Monti (Spanish Steps) and the fountain, Fontata della Barcaccia (Fountain of the Ugly Boat) stands in the Piazza de Spagna.

The average summer here has three days where the temperature hits 30 Celcius, and our fair share of cold days in the winter... Actually, I'd like a little cold snap, just enough to test out the new (old) coat, plus one of my Christmas presents - https://www.sheepskintown.com/full-fur-russian-hat-mouton-sheepskin-p-636.html - we've been having a winter heat wave the last three weeks with temperatures about zero celcius...

I do know where that old photo was taken, apparently there have been some changes in the plaza since that photo was taken many years ago...

And one more winter photo of my own, from this past weekend, about -5 Celcius up at Lake Louise...
