I spent most of the day Friday taking my wife to stores and out for a nice lunch. On our way home we decided to go another route so that we could stop by yet another store so I looked for a place to turn around. Being Friday the traffic was fairly heavy so I decided to make a left and turn around in a parking lot. As I turned I noticed a car cover with an oddly familiar shape. Without thinking I blerted or rather yelped out "Look a Spridget!!". My wife held on for dear life as I nearly put our minivan up on two wheels during my emergency u-turn.
I parked haphazardly in the parking lot of a brake shop and hopped out to inspect the car when out of the corner of my eye I also noticed a very nice looking 74MGB. As I approched a mechanic I noticed that he had a set of SU's in his hand and various other A series parts on the table. I told him that I had noticed the car cover and wondered what it was. He happily explained that he had bought a bugeye from a little old lady a few months back, original owner, showed me a picture of her driving it off of the car lot.
Of course I asked him if either car was for sale. He said that he would take $10k for the bugeye as it sat or he would put the engine back together and sell it in November for $30K! I told him I sure hope mine would be worth that much when done (tungue in cheak).
It sure was nice just to see another bugeye even if it was owned by someone living in a dream world!
