For the first time since my cancer treatment last year, I was able to take the car for a good long drive around eastern Connecticut.

Neither the car nor I are at 100% (I think the car is in better shape than me). But after a few weeks of tweaking and troubleshooting on the fuel and ignition systems, seems it's running pretty well. Still a slight front end wobble between 45 and 55mpg, but otherwise stable.

Sure feels great to see the sun beyond the clouds. Both car and I owe BCF big time for the help and support.

Maybe I should start thinking of a longer trip ...

Tom

Good for both of you! Congratulations.

Congratulations Tom. I hadn't known that you were suffering from cancer. I was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer plus another (deadly) disease called amyloidosis that produces ameloid around all (or most of) the vital organs. That was almost 8 years ago and 4 years ago, my doctor told me that the first time he saw me, he gave me 12 to 18 months. I couldn't drive any car for over 8 months - but slowly it all came back.

Here it is almost 8 years later. 4 years ago, he told me "You're cured".

I wish you have the same result.

Last summer I drove TS2 the second TR2 ever built for 23 days around England and Wales (camped 15 nights in a tent) and put on 2088 miles. Maybe the story will be in one of the up-coming issues of the VTR magazine

Life is great !

Well that 's a feel good post

Thanks Tom and good on you

Great news Tom. These cars make us forget about some of our problems. I never had a Toyota do that for me. I hope both of you make it back to 100%

Tom, we would love to show you Wisconsin.

Is Ella's Deli still down near the Capitol building by Sun Print Gallery and Brat-n-Brau? do they still make that fantastic Number One Sundae?

Is Parfrey's Glen still up over the river beyond Lodi?

Is House on the Rock still out there by Taliesen?

hint hint

Tom, you are always welcome to venture over through RI to see me in Mass. We could meet up somewhere along the way. Maybe go over to Justin's and see his Hathaway Hunter in progress?

So true, I didn't drive any car for about a year after I started my cancer treatment. That was almost two years ago. It was sublime to get back into the TR3. I also have a Miata which is better then an appliance car, but not as uplifting as the TR.

About three months ago, I gave away my everyday 187k mile Saturn to a guy here at work who had his car totaled while it was parked in front of his house. That meant I needed another daily driver, so I bought an RX-8. Now all my cars are fun to drive, but the TR3 takes me to places the other two never can.

So Tom, it's great to hear that you're doing well and keep away from boring cars. :driving:

Tom,

Great to hear you getting "back in the saddle"! I was on my way home from the DMV in Putnam last week - just registered my TR3! - and was shocked to see a white/cream colored TR3 pass me going the other way on Kennedy Drive - any chance that was you?
