A friend who gets it now...

I got a call from my good friend Joe yesterday. Been friends a long time -- he taught me to ride a motorcycle when I first met him a lot of years ago. While he enjoys cars and would love a modern Porsche some day, he has never understood my love of old cars. So I was a bit surprised to get a call from him that started with the line "I get it now."

Seems his mother-in-law (he is recently married) has a 1980 Alpha Romeo convertible that she has owned since new. He got a chance to drive it for a few miles yesterday, and that seems to have done the trick. He's not about to go buy an old car, but he does now see the appeal. Small, light 2-seat drop top, just enough power to be fun.

It's nice now that he doesn't think I'm nuts for my Bugeye hobby. Maybe I'll even be able to get him to help me with my upcoming projects. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Alfa Spider is a good car to use for an intro. Civilised and easy to drive.
