Took my SIL and her friend, who were down from Denver visiting for a few days, to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta on opening day. Here are a few pics.

This was shot by a friend from the Wells Fargo Balloon (Stage coach). That's their launch pad down below and a huge crowd.

amazing! abd beautiful (great pics too!) I bet the odd shapes would affect the aerodynamics - knowing that they are just carried along anyways but, they would likely at least have to act like a bit of a rudder - perhaps just keeping the thing on the same line?

Thanks! Not sure what impact the special shapes have on the balloon's flight dynamics; maybe I'll ask that question next year.

Bas, you have become quite the photog these past few years. Excellent work you have done.

Hi Bas, whats the balloon with the spike sticking out the top meant to be in the wide ange shot?

That's a good question. I "think" it's a unicorn, but I didn't get any better shots of that one. If I figure it out for sure I'll let you know, but Unicorn is a guess.

We've decided to go a second time to the last day of the fiesta. Going to try to get there in plenty of time for the last day mass ascension. (Sunday 15th).
