A fan of 2500M's!!!

A bit of irony regarding my cooling saga. Started last year w/ all new hoses and a re-cored radiator & a threaded temp switch. This spring it was time to figure out the auxilary fan. The Smiths fan was disconnected at the Lucas relay, so after a bit of wire investigation I reconnected the fan to the relay and wired in an override switch for the fan. This helped to improve my confidence level by knowing I could turn the fan on at will!! Everything worked as designed, which is no small feat!! Went to several shows w/ the car and enjoyed my new found success until the Lucas relay gave up. Not being a purist, I replaced w/ a solid state relay from NAPA for $10.00 and replaced the theromstat w/ a 165 deg hiflow unit. Again all was well until the Smiths fan died....should have guessed all this stuff was diconnected for a reason. Replaced the fan with a 7.5" from the Fan Man (very reasonable price). Made some custom brackets to mount the fan and was back in business. Did a tune up and adjusted the timing which was severely advanced, set the ZS carbs which were very lean and viola the car runs considerably cooler, smoother and purrs at 850 rpm.
So, I'm off this weekend to the British Invade Gettysburg w/ my new found success and enjoying my TVR more w/ each passing week.

Ralph,
Glad you are enjoying your 2500M more and more with each passing week. Enjoy the Gettysburg show and be sure to "fly the TVR colors" and help more people learn what a TVR is as it is still a relatively unknown British marque. If everyone with a TVR would get their cars out there among the masses on a regular basis, the TVR name would become more recognizable.
