My brother and I went on a 300 mile drive yesterday. He was 7 years old when I got my first LBC, the '64 TR4, in '65. I used to take him along a lot and even when I later had my GT6. All the time he was too young to drive. His dream for the last 42 years has been to drive one of these cars. Yesterday we finally had a day where we could both get away and he got his chance to fulfill that dream. It was a great day!

That 300 mile drive with your little brother sounds
just wonderful. If you don't mind me asking....

What type of LBC did you use for the 300 mile drive?
Did it break down and you made roadside repairs, or 300
R/T miles with no breakdowns?

Just curious is all. I'm still trying to understand these
cars.

You're probably not going to believe this, but there were 15 LBC's last weekend that did the same exact thing and not one car stopped for anything but food or fun. We ranged from Jag's, to MGTD's to MGB's to TR6's & GT6's.

Except for my slight A/F leak at the start, which was my own fault for not tightening up a hose clamp properly when I installed it.
 
Tom, it's wonderful that you had such a great day! It just shows how these LBCs get in your blood and it never goes away.

I cannot imagine 15 old Brit cars covering 300 miles
without the shoulder lane littered with dead soldiers
along the way.

300 miles sound awfully far to me.... without a breakdown.

These cars were actually designed to spend more time on the road than in the garage.

Just ask Tom, after his complete engine overhaul......
 
you should get off your island more. 300 mile trips are nothing for me. It's that far to visit my mother. more to visit my son's family.
 
I was a little brother like that. When I was 12 my brother was a senior in high school and had a 60 TR3 that he used to take me riding in. After wanting one for almost 40 years I finally got my Triumph last fall. It wish I hadn't waited so long.

Especially if he starts to use the tunnel to Miami and back. He could drive Pedro to South Beach and show him the sites.
