A commercial that puzzles me

I'm sure we've all seen the series of Prius commercials with the bank robbers coming out, grabbing a Prius and being chased by the police. Well, the latest one has a radio announcer telling his listeners that Prius owners are converging on the chase, where you then see a fleet of red Prius autos weaving in and around the robbers then all of them heading in different directions. Now, the question. Is Toyota saying the Prius owners approve of bank robbery?? Yes this is partly in jest, but I do find it to be an odd sort of sales technique. I mean, how often does a company advertise their product by way of simulated felony crimes??

Not a fan of that commercial, it's just dumb. And I really hate all the Chevy commercials that feature phony "real people not actors." BTW, my choice of getaway vehicles would be a 707 hp Hellcat:

I'd bet that's what they're attempting (unsuccessfully, IMHO).

Toyota commercials have traditionally been (borrowing the words of Cleese's vocational guidance counselor) appallingly dull, unimaginative, timid, lacking in initiative, spineless, easily dominated, no sense of humour, tedious and irrepressibly drab and awful.

Guess they're trying to break out of their shell. Better luck next time.

Absolutely horrendous. I don't know what it is about those commercials but they literally make me angry.

At least the moronic Buick commercials just make me cringe.

I'd find it hard to believe a Prius would be used as a getaway car. Most of the time they can be found holding up a long line of traffic, that or a Camry. Personally, I prefer Morgan Freeman's assessment of the Prius...about 30 seconds in.
