A Classic and a near classic just rusting away

The garage where the owner lets me use his lift has a few cars sitting around (some for a long time)There is Mustang and a Lemans DHC sitting there that the owner just never picked up. Being he is "mostly" retired he has not bother with the cars and you can tell the years have not been friendly. What a shame. The Lemans could be easily restored but alas the Mustang has probably been on its last gallop.

What a shame, when I was in my 20s and into the Muscle cars I wold have died for either of them

I saw a TR4 in one if the first pics I looked at on that web site. It was parked beside a bunch of Chrysler 300C

I love the descriptions these guys write about how they came across the cars & why the owners are not selling.

It's also cool the way they break it up into Fords, Chevy, Dodge...etc.

People should be kicked around the block...I've been trying to by an MGA locally for years....guy was going to restore it BLAH-BLAH...he dies...his daughter gets it BLAH-BLAH...Now I can buy it but she won't set a price....Stashed in a garage...tons of new parts...

When we first got married my Uncle gave us his 1972 LeMans (58,000 miles) We drove it for a couple of years, it ran great. Then we had kids, bought a 2nd car, got a company car etc. and the Lemans just sat in the driveway. We talked about how we would restore it someday. After about 5 years we figured it was time to sell it cause we never had the time to get to it ($2500) Now I would give anything to have it back. Now, t he kids are almost grown and we are into restoring cars again. I understand people holding on....I wish we had. I don't know if it could have withstood another 10 years waiting on us, but I sure wish we had waited. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

well theirs is a pile that has been parked for 20 years and needs $60K to become a $50K car

Yup. my parents neighbor had a powder blue 64 Ford F100. bought it new. I remember that truck from when I was growing up. I used to ask him if I could buy it. he always said "when I'm done with it"
He quit driving it about 15 years ago... but he wasen't done with it till he died this year. I got to see it about a month ago.... I don't really want it now.
All that being said, he was a great man. And I'm thankful every day to have known him. If I had more money, and time, I'd get that old truck and fix it up in his honor. I just whish he'd givin me the chance back when it could have been done reasonably.
