This is quite a story.

On March 20 of this year, 99 year old veteran Ben Skardon made his tenth annual march to remember his comrades in the Bataan Death March of WW2.

He feels he survived that horror by hiding a can of Carnation condensed milk in his pocket, which he'd sip in secret during the night. He carries a can of it on his walks today.

A good looking guy indeed. And one who remembers.

He's joined by thousands of others to remember that forced march of April 1942.

Memorial Day is to remember what has happened, and who we've lost.

I've never done that walk, but when I was working on a certain project we used to make regular trips down to White Sands so had the chance to drive that stretch many times. For that man to make that trek at his age is nothing short of amazing.

I wholeheartedly agree! I admire his dedication to the memory of his fallen comrades. PJ

A guy who worked in the same company my dad did survived that march. He would go full Berserker mode upon seeing an Asian face.

"Oh, the stories he could tell"... I was a teenager.
