Fellow BCFers, allow me a moment to tell you of a great and unjust wrong that has been committed against us all. A tyrannical soulless company has taken something from each and every one of us, and we cannot sit idle while they trample our rights. The television company A&E, formerly Arts & Entertainment, have egregiously cancelled the amazingly good program, Longmire, after three seasons. It has been the highest rated non-reality program in their history, and it even ended on a cliffhanger. My friends, I say this injustice cannot be allowed to have been perpetrated with no recourse from A&E's viewers, and so I call for a boycott against this company. As Americans who know the difference between right and wrong I ask you to stand with me in solidarity and send a message to A&E that these sort of decisions will not go unnoticed by a callous world, but that a group of intrepid and patriotic people will stand up for what is right. We do not need more reality shows, but instead demand more quality programming, like Longmire, for our viewing pleasure. Who stands with me?
 
Hmmmm, seems it was attracting the wrong demographic, I.e. An older audience, which advertisers don't like. The show's best hope might be to find a new home with Netflix or similar.......
 
Understand your position but don't feel like I'm a good candidate to join in. I'm still wearing a black arm band showing support to The Smothers Brothers for their show's unfair cancellation by CBS. Don't think the network has reconsidered....yet.

Firefly was also a good show, it deserved more than half of a season.

I was ticked when they dropped Robin Williams' "The Crazy Ones" (which was very funny) for "Bad Teacher" which was just BAD! And now they're messing with "Elementary" which is about the only other show I watch.

Tom, your telling your age! :highly_amused:. How about "The Texaco Hour" and the on stage commercial selling Texaco products! What'd he say, "You Say You Get More For Your Money"! :jester: . Funny how I can remember those things, but where did I lay that wrench? PJ

Oh my, That video brought back memories. I was just a kid 47 or 48 and we had a new B&W TV with a 5 inch screen! The cabinet was 3 feet long, so we had a big TV! :highly_amused:

3 channels in the beginning, came on at 6 in the evening and went off at 11! I remember riding with my dad and looking for TV antennas. Wasn't very many back then. Friday nights were the fights and we would have a house full of people I didn't even know! Didn't take long to acquire new friends when the antenna went up! When we got our next TV, it had a 12 inch screen, I could not believe how big it was. :highly_amused: PJ
 
My Ol' Fella was an electronics enthusiast, I was born in '50 and never knew a house without TV.

Before RCA-NBC started running Disney and Bonanza on Sundays, he and another pal of his were using a bar generator to align the "guns" in the CRT's of RCA console TV's.. We had a full house most Sundays anyway (large Italian family, Sunday was a traditional gathering day), but when the color broadcasts began the crowd enlarged and stayed later.
