This is up for sale in case anyone NEEDS a replacement Ghibli engine. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Genuine, rebuilt and ready-to-go.

Should slot right into an MGB. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

...PM me for details.

OK - but low reving V8s aren't as much fun as high reving V-12s.

Almost bought one though - just great looks, backward technical spec.

WOO HOO!! Doc...in what price range would something like that fall? What transmission options bolt up to it?

Well, it's one of those: "If ya gotta ask..." things. Likely in the low $30K range. But the thing is actually a genuine "period" mill from a Ghibli. I have the ~three digit~ serial number to verify... A real "Hen's Tooth" by now.

Steve - the only possible application is as a coffee table! But, WHAT A COFFEE TABLE!!

I HATE with a passion doing valve adjustments on those Maser V8s.Timing chain with master links, .... Penciled into my manual was the warning not to drop the chain, something about 50 plus hours of free work. I love the road test though. I had a customer that had a nice Ghibli coupe, and worked on it for years until he traded it for an Espada.

Jesse, can you say "water pump"? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

That cam chain was why th' lord invented "mechanics' wire". /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Same hassle with the T/C Lotus 1600's, too. Alfa were the only "civilised" bunch.

....And some more!

Is that the same engine that was in the old Quattroporte sedan?

A friend of mine had a '71 Citroen with a Maserati engine in it (came in the car, from the Citroen factory). Does anyone know which Maserate engine that may have been?

The Citroen would really go, very interesting car.

From Wikipedia:

The SM was sold with three very similar, small, lightweight engines, all derived from the contemporary Maserati V8 fitted to the Quattroporte. Because of the V8 origin, this engine sported an unusual 90 degree angle between cylinder banks - a trait shared with the PRV V6.

The engines - always mounted behind the front axle were:

2.7 L V6 with Weber 42 DCNF carburettors, "C114-1" (170 bhp) (1970-1972)
2.7 L V6 with Bosch D-Jetronic injection, "C114-03" (178 bhp) (1973-1975 - Not available in the US)
3.0 L V6 with Weber 42 DCNF carburettors, "C114-11" (180 bhp) (1973-1975 - US only in 1973, rest of the world, automatic only in 1974 & 1975)

Then, I think I know where there's an old blue one just sitting abandoned! Engine's got the big carbs on top with a plate between all of them that was probably the bottom of an air cleaner! Old car's not in bad shape either except the transmission & interior are gone & the console is laying in the trunk....think I need to ride by to see if its still there.

You're welcome - my first car was a Citroen DS 19 wagon - I still miss it and my ears still perk up when I hear of Citroen's

"Snug" fit!!! But, HoooBoi!!! Hit th' loud pedal an' "Awaaay we GO!!"

When they're right, they're awesome.

DrEntropyWhen they're right said:
Mine was far from "right" never got the timing correct and a friend blew a hole in the engine after 6 mos. But it was a $50 car and I got my money's worth (sold ot for $250 for parts /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif )

Still remember the owner's manual saying "don't brake too hard all at once over 75 mph - amazing!

I wish, more like a Citrowannabe /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif At the time I had the DS and my father had a '58 DKW. All in Belleville Ontario (pop 30k) Definately the 2 oddest cars in the same driveway. I was not at all unusual to find a german or french immigrant crying in our driveway "it vass ze best car I ever owned"

The DS died - my father moved took the DKW and later gave it away - just a few years before I wanted to restore it - sigh another one that got away.

Recently I saw an old Citroen Van in Montreal (corregated sides) - another sigh. Further reminder that any attempt to expand my hobby will result in or be the result of the death of DW or me /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nonono.gif
