I'm trying to mount my manifolds onto my 948. When I got the engine back from the rebuilder, I got it with 2 H2 carbs, and the appropriate intake manifold. The one I have is pictured on page MA 45 (plate A 27) in the BMC Mechanical Parts List. It is the manifold designated 12G 583. In the picture there is also shown the Ferrule for the inlet port (12 G 297). Now here's the problem and my question. The ferrules fit nicely into the manifold, but they're too large for the inlet port. Are the ferrules supposed to slip inside the inlet port as well as the manifold itself? If so, is there a solution to the mismatched size short of reboring the inlet holes. I temporarily mounted the intake manifold with the ferrules butting up to the area around the inlet ports. I'm supposing tis is not the thing to do. Has anyone had this problem, too? Does anyone have a soultion?
