Since the engine in my BGT has to be rebuilt anyway, and has lots of stuff missing, I answered an add in a local Mag. From a '77 MGB, 65k on engine, nice and clean, runs well, even though the fuel pump wouldn't work, (fuse). so had to spray in gas. It also comes with an O/D Transmission. He bought it to transplant into another MGB, but got fed up with the electrics stranding him all the time, and went German.
I offered $700.00 for the engine and transmission. He says he doesn't want to go under $900.00. But he will pull it, include all the electrics, cables etc for the O/D. He will also throw in the seats, which are nicer then the cloth ones in my 74.5, and not a mark on them. He has already sold the chasis.
Should I give him the $900.00 and leave smiling?
He also has an origional set of Knock offs, in nice shape, but need a sandblasting. I don't want them, but does anyone else?
Please let me know if this is a good deal?
Thanks

Sounds good to me, you can pay that much for a good OD 'box.

Well.. Done deal. I spoke to him tonight, and will go pick it up this week. Couple questions though:

1) What should I NOT FORGET to get out in regards to the O/D
2) Should these /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif line up exactly with where the existing engine / Tranny sat?
3) Does the O/D wiring have to be hooked up before I can test drive the car when all is installed, to make sure the Tranny works well? I will then take it to my LBC guy for hook-up.
Thanks

Paul

make sure you get the OD hanress, otherwise it is a bolt in swap. You might also make sure to get the switch for the OD, I don't know where it is in a 77 but I think it's on the turn signal stalk. You might find the wiring is already in your car
