87 XJ6 Driver and Passenger Footwell Water Leaks

I have been chasing some water leaks in both the driver and passenger side foot wells. I made sure that the two drain lines for the air conditioner were un plugged. With the air on and engine running two puddles form under the car indicating that the drain lines are not clogged.

The two rubber elbows with the sperical drain for the air inlet at the base of the windshield were in bad shape so I replaced those as well.

How or where do the drain tubes for the sunroof drip pan drain?

this only seems to happen when driving in the rain. Anyone else had this type of problem?

The sun roof drains are located unser the wings (fenders) via a tube from each corner of the sunroof enclosure. The body is designed to leak water through the sun roof panel and drain it via these outlets. If leaves have clogged these drains you might get water anywhere in the interior but usually at the cost of soaking the roor headliner. There is an outside chance that you might have a leak in the front air intake enclosure forward of the windshield but that rarely happens. The culprit could also be a leak in your windshield seals.

Re: 87 XJ6 Driver and Passenger Footwell Water Lea

or missing floor drain plugs, or water coming in through the transmission tunnel, or firewall plugs missing, so many places... Remove all front mats and insulation pads then have someone with a garden hose spray agua under the car while you look with a flashlight, chances are you'll discover where it's coming in. BTW, place the insulation pads and mats to dry for a few days under the sun, otherwise you'll get a musty odor that will be hard to get rid of.
