The wood on the part of my console above the radio is in pretty bad shape...I have anothe3r piece that matches my dash.

What's the secret for removing it?

What's the back of the replacement piece look like? Been a few years since I've seen one. I will look in the books and see if I can find something.

I'll get a photo online tomorrow.

Tony:
Looked and did not see a piece of wood over radio. I have an owner's manual and it only shows the clock and switches over the radio?? I do not have a series 111 parts manual and the series 2 won't help. I looked in the XKs master catalog, no help there either. When you get a chance get me a shot of the console area of radio and wood and what the wood replacement looks like on the back. I've had them apart but that was like 16 years ago. Need a refresher.

Will to that tomorrow...thanks for helping me...

Pull the heater knobs, and unscrew retainers underneath. Remove radio surround. Depending on which radio the car has, you may need to remove radio also. Be careful removing radio surround, there are fiber optic connections to heater indicators. Anyway, this should expose the 2 screws holding the bottom of the wood panel. It just slips out of the top. If I remember correctly, sub harnesses can be disconnected so you can take the whole piece out with switches, lighter and all.It is easiest to disassemble it once you can see what you are doing.

Jesse - Think you're correct....here are the photo's Larry asked for:

Jesse has it Tony. I've seen so many Series 1s, 2s, and 3s, can't keep'em all straight. Just watch for the fiber optic cables. It's great you have matching wood pieces, seen too many that don't match.

While I'm in there, somebody told me I can make the lights on my shifter work again...how?

There is a bulb under the shifter. Unscrew the shifter handle ( just unscrew, comes off one side then the other unscrews from lever. Pull up console piece, might have to undo window switchs not sure there. Right under the PRNDL is a bulb. The neutral switch is there too.

Thanks, Larry....
