85 XJ6 brake fluid reservoir leak

Replaced master cylinder, now the reservoir won't seal to the m.c. . New Lucas unit same as original. This a bummer. What am I missing here?

Thanks Guys

Check the two rubber seals for the reservoir. Pull the two pins after sucking as much fluid as you can out of the reservoir with a syringe. The reservoir has nipples for lack of a better description that have rubber seals. the nipples have to fit just right into the Master Cylinder in order to seal. It may be that the seals, which don't come with the new master cylinder, have aged and will no longer seal.

The original mc only had a rubber seal on the front and did not have any seal on the rear (and it didn't leak). Will a new reservoir come w/ seals?

Further research revealed that new seals for mc reservoir to mc are included in the mc rebuild kit from Jagbits. FWIW.

Carry On Jaguar People... Love my SIII XJ6.
