Wedge 80 tr8 wiper ?

Going to and coming home from a car gathering yesterday at a local winery. The wife had fun.
It was raining and i noticed a few new things about the car's system.
1, there was a position on the wiper switch, where pulling down, that made the wipers move 3 times, or
2, in the 1st up position normal speed.
to my amazement, i found that Lord LUCAS had invented a rain sensing device that would keep the wipers on in either position after the wiper arm was returned to the off position.

I can only think that the rain sensing device is located somewhere up by the top edge of the windshield, where I had water starting to drip in while driving. :madder:
Also, during the drive I kept hearing a high pitch whistel, I thought it might be coming from the hole in my head or the boys nintendo game, but no. it was coming from the wiper assembly.
Any ideas?
Thanks Tom

Do you have the rubber sealing gasket attached to the bottom the header rail? It rivets in place and is held with two metal strips that come together in the middle. You might have a tear or a fold in it where the leak is coming from. Most of the wiper problems can be traced to the wiper motor box. There are parts in there that wear out. These parts are responsible for stopping the wipers in the down position. If they don't engage, the motor will keep running. Hopefully it will engage on the next cycle, if not, maybe the next, or the next. Take the cover off the wiper motor and clean everything up. Check the movement carefully with the wipers on. See if there is anything you can fix or need to replace. Put in fresh grease and put it back together. If that doesn't fix it, then it's on to the switch and relay. Pushing the switch down should cycle the motor once.

Speaking of that wiper business.
I bought a wiper delay unit and was wondering where the stock position of said delay unit is suppose to go.

By the way Todd, I've appointed you head Pubah of the TR7/8 clansman. So don't go anywhere.
See Randy's thread

As far as I know, the windshield, gasket, and the top header rail have never been
off the car. Worn out seal maybe? Or worn out w/s gasket?
When I pushed down on the wiper arm, the motor cycled 3 times, is that wrong?
And sometimes it would not turn off at all. When I moved the arm to the up position, then back to off, it would turn off if it felt like it.
It seem's that if I jiggled the switch just right the motor would shut off finally.
Any thoughts on the whistling?
Tom

Your wipers should only move one when you move the switch. I think your issue is in the switch itself. I have never heard of the rain sensor!!!

My rain sensor is on the top of my head
