Wanted '80 MGB without seat belts?

Just curious: I texted the former owner and replied that as far as he knows, the car never had seat belts (purchased from CT, and formerly registered in MA). Is it possible this car could have been delivered to the US without seat belts back in 1980? It appears correct otherwise aside from a paint color change.

I doubt it as there is a Federal law since sometime in the '60's
that requires them.

Me too. The belts must have been removed at some time in the past.

I will be installing new seat belts, and I plan on installing a roll bar. Does anyone have any ideas as to what seat belts work best with a standard, one-hoop roll bar? I am thinking of matching original equipment with a new set, but if another type works better with a roll bar in place I'd like to know. Thanks in advance.

I would recommend getting a set with lap/shoulder belts,which I believe
your car had originally.
