i guess something in the 195/60 15 or ~maybe~ 195/50 16 area (probably too low of a profile to look right on a MGB though). I don't think i've ever seen anyone put any wider tires on a B without body mods. 195/60 15 on 15x5.5 inch wheels definitely fits as a lot of people use that size. 15x6 inch wheels would fit too as long as you have the right amount of offset to make up for the extra width. I'm planning on "up grading" my wheels to 15x6 or 15x5.5 (depending on availability) with 195/60 series tires for my '76 B.
oops, i missed the stock rims part. I would imagine 195/65 series would fit nicely. I have 185/70 series tires on my stock Rostyle wheels. Some people run 195/70 series tires. So, I guess the largest you want to go is probably in that size area.
