Bought this car for $200 - had been in a field in LA area for 12 years!- now almost a year later complete dismantle, hand rewired - not a harness! repainted, $2000+ of new parts ---- and it passed California emissions on the first try....

SOLD ---- goes to a new home Saturday 6th October - its been fun!

Way to go, neil...tell me - why'd'ya not put the black stripe back along the bottom?

Tony, good question. I'm still contemplating it! I also have a 1972 Porsche 914, exactly the same color ( they were both repainted by the same shop at the same time) and it has the black stripe which the shop repainted also - the MG never did, it started off life red, and was already blue when i got it!

It sorta looks older without the black bottom.

nice - fwiw I have no plans to replace the black bottom either

She looks Great Neilh! Good job. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

BTW did you ever find out what's going on with that high (~2000 rpms) idle?

I see you've posted a few questions about yer over in Spridgets - you might want to give the nod to the boys over in the MG forum here - they might be able to help.

Again great job!

Bret
PS when'd ya get a 914?

Bret, high idle was a totally gummed up water jacket on the auto choke! Brfoke it trying to open it up so I'm looking for replacement parts now - may take you up on that CD175 you said you have around.
I bought 914 locally, goes like a rocket - i'll bring it by sometime!

Cool! Just let me know when you'd like to look at my Zenith Stromberg collection?

In fact I might even have a choke rebuild kit in those boxes too.
