Spitfire 78 Spitfire hard starting

My 78 Spit is suddenly hard to start. Once it starts it runs and idles fine. Im thinking its a carb/choke problem or weak fuel pump. Any suggestions ? Its the original carb with water choke.

Joe, This happened to my GT6 last fall. I'd have to crank way to long for it to fire, but then it ran fine. Took the fuel pump apart and found that while the rubber diaphragm was still intact, it had become very thin and too flexible. Rebuilt it and the engine fires right up.

I filled the tank and to me it seems like it start more like normal, which probably means fuel pump?
