my 78 engine was starting no problem but when i started it a couple of days ago it shut off,now nothing, just a clicking noise, changed battery, and did test on junction box next to fuse box,it's getting power but making a clicking noise, could this be the starter or solinoid? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIFthanks for all replies

If the battery's hot & all you're getting is a click then it points to starter/solenoid problems.

Smack the 2 round black relays on the passenger side fender with the back of a screwdriver handle (not too hard, just enough to let them know your there) and/or disconnect them and clean the terminals really good.

Another thing - what junction box next to the fuse box? Do you have a picture of what you are talking about here?

Also, when you changed the battery... did you put in a NEW battery, or another used one? You might still have a dead battery.

Clean the terminals on the balast resistor too if so equipped (it's a long aluminum thing near all the other electrics on the inner fender)
