Could we see a world record price for a Big Healey 6-cylinder ? The 1964 Austin Healey 3000 MK II Factory Works 767 KNX 12 Hours of Sebring car will be up for auction at Bonhams Quail Lodge, Thursday, August 15. This is Monterey Week when all the high rollers converge on the peninsula. This car is one of the most significantly important big Healey 6 road racing cars ever to leave Warwick. It would be nice nice to see it stay here in the states, but my money says it's bound for Europe.

If anyone decides to attend the auction or is planning on a roadie to the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, I'll be racing # 414 in Group #3A,
1955-1962 production GT class. Looking at the grid, there's 3 Ferrari 250's, including a 250 GTO, 2 Aston Martin DB5GT's and a dozen or so Corvettes and the usual Porsches, Afla's etc. Stop by the paddock and talk Healey.....

"Also confirmed is the ex-works 1964 Austin-Healey 3000 MkII ’767 KNX’ – the sole factory entry in the 12 Hours of Sebring that year where it was co-driven by the legendary Paddy Hopkirk. Later achieving finishes in races at Oulton Park and twice at the Targa Florio, this big Healey racer is the recent subject of a Concours-quality restoration."
