what is the thing on top of the head that goes to the intake? I have taken off the metal pipe connecting the two, plugged the intake, and capped off the small vac line fitting. Is this ok? The big metal thing is still on the head, basicly just plugged/removed the metal pipe between the two. Have removed all smog and vac lines. Will this make the car run crappy? Car is not back on rd yet.....

Removed mine too. I don't think you'll notice a change in performance, but you won't be recirculating some of the exhaust back into the combustion chambers for another go at it. Which to me is reason enough to get rid of it.
