I'm considering looking at a '76 midget for my 16 year old daughter. What can I or should I look for? and what price range for a fair condition runner.
rust rust and rust. same as the rest. The A posts is the biggie - look hard at where the lower door hinge attaches. The smog equipment is likely gone - a good thing. It will have a Zenith Stromberg carb which you might want to swap out. The advantages are an unleaded head and electronic ignition. The vulnerability of the 1500 (Spitfire engine if you didn't already know) is the thrust bearings. Other than that, basically the same things as a TR.
