TR6 74TR6 wiring harness

I plan to replace my wiring harness this fall to finally correct several recurring problems on my 74 TR6. I've found that the two choices appear to be either a stock replacement from TRF, or the Dan Masters upgrade by Advance Auto Wire. Any preferances from past experience would make this easier. I've currently got a situation where all electrics "cut out" intermitently, no lights, no power. By leaving the lights turned on, they will reappear, usually within 5-10 minutes. Grounds appear good, original braided type, although showing their age. I figure first priority is to replace anyway. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

You've likely already checked it, but the first thing I would do is clean the connections and/or replace the main ground strap and the heavy cables on the positive side of the battery. Don't let their appearance fool you, you have to dismantle and clean up.
Complete loss of power generaly is related to those cables or the ground strap, the fact it comes back after a little while sure sounds like a bad connection (dirty) to me.
Oh, and you're sure the basttery is good?

Thanks, the battery is great. When I've got power, she starts immediately. I'm going to do the cables tonight!

I agree with Graham and would only add that you might want to take a close look at connections on the fuse box, as well as any and all other grounds...and the main lighting switch (especially if by chance it's still the original and long-since recalled for defective operation 'Clear Hooters' switch).

I put the TRF wiring harnesses in my TR-6 during my restoration and am completely happy with the quality and originality. Everything now works as advertised.
