TR6 '74 TR6 grille

Trying to get the last of odds and ends sorted out on my TR6. I took off the aluminum trim strips and the middle bar on the grille because I could see rust along the edges. When I took off the middle bar, the center section of grille came apart from the border. Is the grille supposed to be in two pieces or are the vertical bars or the grille supposed to be attached to the perimeter? I'll be bead-blasting and repainting the grille, so now would be the perfect time to refit the parts together if they are supposed to be so.

Yes David the grill is made up of multiple parts and the center is separate from the perimeter.
